How to Choose a Fresh Juice or Smoothie

The best juice is the one you actually enjoy drinking. Start with flavor, think about how filling you want it to be, and choose ingredients that fit the rest of your meal.

If you want something bright and refreshing

Look for citrus, pineapple, cucumber or ginger-forward combinations. These tend to taste crisp and pair well with burgers, wraps and patties.

If you like earthy flavors

Beet and carrot create deeper sweetness. Ginger or citrus can sharpen the flavor and keep the drink from tasting too heavy.

If you want something more substantial

A smoothie with banana, fruit and an optional protein add-in will usually feel more filling than juice alone.

If you want more greens

Kale and green-fruit blends are an easy way to make a produce-forward choice while keeping a naturally sweet flavor profile.

Important: Juices and smoothies can contribute fluids and nutrients, but they are not treatments for medical conditions. Talk with a healthcare professional about condition-specific nutrition or medication interactions.
